How do I choose an artist?
The most important factor in choosing the right artist is finding a match to the style you are envisioning. Each artist at Aardvark Tattoo specializes in a particular style of tattooing. This ranges from traditional, hyper realism, fandom, script and so on. By placing you with the correct styled artist, we are able to customize a tattoo specifically for you while keeping in line with the artists aesthetic. We highly recommend looking over each portfolio via Instagram, Facebook, and the website to find the right artist for you.
How do I make an appointment?
Once you have an artist in mind, give us a call at the shop at 503-477-8902 and we would be happy to get you set up with a free consultation. This will give you time to chat with the artist about details of the piece as well as get a rough price quote. Please bring in any and all reference photos or inspiration for the piece. This will help us be able to brainstorm together to come up with the best tattoo possible. Consultations are completely free of charge; deposits are only required when making an appointment.
How much will it cost?
Each of our artists charge a different amount per hour ranging from $120-$180 per hour. For any piece that is drastically under the one hour mark will be our shop minimum of $60. We will be sure to give you a rough estimate of time needed to complete the piece at the time of your consultation. We do require a deposit of either $50 or $100 (depending on the size of the piece) in order to make an appointment. However, that payment will be removed from the end cost of the tattoo. We accept cash or card payments. Deposits are nonrefundable.
What is your cancellation policy?
We send out confirmation texts 2-3 days before your scheduled appointment. We understand that life gets in the way sometimes and ask that if you do need to cancel or reschedule for any reason that you let us know as soon as possible. We can transfer deposits as far out as needed. However, if cancellations are made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment, we will require a new deposit in order to get back on the books.
How do I prepare for a tattoo/what to expect?
Be sure to arrive to your appointment well rested, well fed, and well hydrated. Keeping your blood sugar up will also help your body produce endorphins. We will provide candy throughout your tattoo process. You are more than welcome to bring guests along as well, but please keep in mind that each room holds 1-2 people comfortably and some people may be asked to remain in the lobby. We request that you do not bring any children under the age of 14.
Cleanliness and Health Concerns
We uphold a very high standard of cleanliness here at Aardvark. Our tattoo supplies are one time use, disposable products. Each station is deep cleaned between each client to ensure a sterile work environment. We understand allergies and physical ailments may interfere with the tattoo process. Please be sure to discuss any restrictions you may have and all health concerns with your artist at the time of your consultation. In the State of Oregon it is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18, anyone visibly intoxicated, or anyone who is pregnant.
Are there any tattoos you will not do?
As a company we do not tattoo hate speech, or gang related tattoos. Face, neck, and hand tattoos are something we usually steer away from but is up to artist discretion. Despite the progress society has made in accepting tattooed culture, there are still some harsh stigmas associated with overtly visible pieces. These factors and other concerns can be discussed with your artist at the time of your consultation.
